Votes flooding in, but every poll still close!

We’ve had an incredible number of votes so far, approaching 1000 for several categories alone, and all the more impressive because that’s limited to different individual IPs.

Also, perhaps because of that, or maybe because we’re hiding the %s, almost every category is on a knife edge!

For example, best individual votes currently look like this:

1. 123
2. 109
3. 74
4. 66
5. 65
6. 55

So, get out he vote and you’re in with a chance :)

Or, put another way, your vote will most definitely count… so get it out and use it today!

Voting now open in the 2008 awards!

The nominations are up and voting is now open in the 2008 Edublog Awards.

Voting is open until 9AM Australian Eastern Standard Time on Sunday December 21st… and the awards ceremony will be held in Second life at 10AM (more on that to come soon).

Some important changes to the way we’re doing things this year are:

- One vote per IP per category (sorry, it’s the only way to avoid rigging, to a degree, your colleagues and students are just gonna have to go vote from home… or from their iphones ;)

- You can vote for multiple blogs / sites at the same time, so vote once, but vote broadly!

- Results will not be displayed at all (we’re keeping them *completely* secret until the awards ceremony)

- Also, you’ll notice there are more nominations this time… that reflects the ever growing edublogosphere and also the quality of the nominations, nice work guys!

If you’ve been nominated, grab a badge from beneath your poll and whack it in your sidebar linking back to the poll, nominations will be listed on those pages forevermore so wear ‘em with pride.

And I’m absolutely sure there are a few typos, stuffed up links, etc. etc. :) So, let me know about them in the comments below and I’ll fix ‘em up in a jiffy.

So, what are you waiting for… go check out all those outstanding blogs, and vote for them!

Nominations closed!

Nominations for the 2008 Awards are now closed and our intrepid team of judges are combing through hundreds of sites to whittle them down to a manageable number.

How / Why are they doing this?

Well, first up a list of every single nomination would be, quite simply, too big.

And secondly some sites get nominated in incorrect categories, some sites get nominated more than others, some sites get nominated by ‘mavens’ whereas some are nominated by people who we’ve never heard of (not that that excludes anything, it just means there needs to be more checking) and some nominated sites aren’t active, or don’t appear to be lively, regularly updated, widely recognized or commented on… so those and many other factors determine what makes the shortlist, apologies in advance if your site or nominated sites don’t make it.

But, and I say this having been involved heavily in this stage for 4 or the last 5 awards, the nominations this year are most definitely of a more considered and higher quality than I, personally, have ever seen before, so nice work y’all!

Nominations almost closed

Thanks to everyone who has nominated!

There are only 3 days left for your nominations to get in, so now’s the time if you’ve been holding back all this time :)

If you wanted to pick a category to add some items for I’d suggest ‘Best librarian / library blog’, ‘Best educational use of a virtual world’ and ‘Best class blog’.

Also… we’ve added a new category at the suggestion of one nominator (who escapes me though!) of ‘lifetime achievement’ award… so please feel free to nominate some of them too!

Did I mention that I’ve been around for absolutely years :D

Now… that *would* be dodgy!

The 2008 Eddies are GO!

The 2008 Eddies are officially GO!

It’s our 5th year (can you believe it, that’s half a decade!) and this year they are going to be bigger and better than ever!

First up, the winner of each category will get a years free Edublogs Campus subscription for themselves or their institution worth US$900… so that’s over $10,000 worth of prizes on offer!

Second – it’s time for you to show your love in public… all nominations must be made in the form of a blog post!

So, what are you waiting for? Nominations are open until the end of November, and voting will begin at the start of December.

You can find all the nomination instructions here – but to sum them up:

  1. Write a post on your blog linking to the 2008 page and the blogs that you nominate
  2. Send us a link to that post (we’re allowing pingbacks / trackbacks there, but they can be unreliable)

Again, you can find more details and the nomination email form here.

Happy nominating, and here’s to a great Edublog Awards!
